Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who raised him on the farm they owned in Eufala. In football, he was with his three brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won the national title twice. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon earned his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. After graduation, he landed in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started his business career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
