Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of difficulties by using her rich and vibrant imagination. Even before learning to write or read, she composed herself songs. Once she had her first guitar at the age of eight, she started performing on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. Although she became an established local celebrity while at the high school years, her dreams were bigger. She moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart at the top of Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his television show that was syndicated around the exact time. Parton got her first gig in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Parton left the show however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums.
